JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) will implement traffic engineering in the construction area of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP 203 starting January 10.

This traffic arrangement is carried out to support the continuation of construction work on underground stations and tunnels in the Kota-Glodok segment.

Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo explained, CP 203 is one of the main work packages in Phase 2A which includes the construction of Glodok Station and Kota Station, as well as a tunnel of 690 meters with a total line of about 1.4 kilometers from Mangga Besar to Kota Tua.

"Starting January 10, 2026, traffic engineering will be carried out in the construction area of MRT Jakarta CP 203. This needs to be done as part of the construction phase of the MRT Jakarta," said Rendy. Traffic engineering in the Kota Station area will take place from January 10 to July 15, 2026. The work area is located around the intersection of Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan and Jalan Asemka.

Rendy said that at this stage, the work was focused on the underground structure of the station and the construction of the entrance, which was then followed by architectural and mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP) work.

"The construction area will be in the area of the intersection of Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan and Jalan Asemka, with coverage of work including underground station and entrance structure work," he said.

In the two-way traffic arrangement, the use of the road on the north side of the South Gate Road, which was previously on the west side, will be diverted to the east side. The configuration is one lane each in the south and north directions.

Rendy said that the arrangement was in principle intended for TransJakarta as well as vehicles for residents and store consumers on Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan. However, there is a possibility of opening access on a situational basis.

"If there is traffic congestion, especially on Pancoran Road, then the South Gate Road will be opened to the public on a situational basis," said Rendy.

Meanwhile, the west side of Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan can still be used in a limited manner for small vehicles from south to north, especially for residents and store visitors.

Road narrowing will also occur at a number of points. At the intersection of Jalan Asemka (fly over) to Jalan Jembatan Batu, the number of lanes from the west, which was originally three lanes, will be reduced to two lanes due to the work area. A similar condition occurs from the direction of Jalan Jembatan Batu to Jalan Asemka, with the shift of vehicle speed towards the middle of the road.

Traffic Arrangement at Glodok Station Extended In addition to the City area, traffic engineering is also still in force in the Glodok Station construction area. This arrangement is in Phase 3.2 with a contraflow configuration, where two-way traffic uses Jalan Gajah Mada.

"The implementation time for this phase, which was originally from September 21, 2025 to March 12, 2026, will be extended until July 13, 2026," said Rendy.

PT MRT Jakarta apologized for the inconvenience caused during the construction process. Rendy hopes that the community can understand and support the construction of the Jakarta MRT, which is currently continuing.

"PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) also always ensures the comfort and safety of road users are maintained during the construction process by installing traffic signs, road markings and street lights," he said.

Rendy also appealed to the public to always obey the signs and directions of officers in the field. The traffic engineering of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A project has been carried out since April 2021 and has been coordinated with the contractor and the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service and the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Police.
