JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan appreciated the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin for correcting and apologizing for giving an E value for handling the pandemic to the DKI Province.

"We have felt very strongly, since the Minister of Health took office in December 2020, our collective work has been very good. He is smart, wise, open minded, works very fast, and always prioritizes collaboration," said Anies in his statement, Friday, May 28.

Budi clarified that the assessment put forward by the Deputy Minister of Health was not intended to categorize the performance appraisal of each region.

Agreeing with the Minister of Health's statement, Anies emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government always prioritizes the safety of citizens in handling this pandemic. Handling a pandemic must actually be based on facts, be transparent, and work hard in the long term.

"The assessment with a scheme like the one issued by the Deputy Health Minister actually risks disrupting the serious work of handling the pandemic. For this reason, we appreciate the clarification of the Minister of Health. The Minister of Health understands very well and is accustomed to science-based work and field evidence," explained Anies.

With this clarification, Anies said this could revive the enthusiasm of health workers in Jakarta who had been treating COVID-19 patients.

Anies continued, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will be happy to work with the Ministry of Health to prepare a more objective, contextual assessment of the risk situation and become an impetus for all regions to seriously resolve this pandemic problem.

"We hope that the Ministry can review the method of calculating risk conditions in regional situations which are not an assessment of COVID-19 performance," he concluded.

Previously, Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono said DKI Jakarta was the only province with a pandemic handling score with a red report card or an E. This was conveyed at a joint working meeting with Commission IX DPR, Friday, May 28.

This statement was immediately clarified by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. Budi apologized. He corrected that the assessment of the Ministry of Health which was presented by Dante was not a well-prepared performance assessment.

"To be honest, I just discussed these figures or general guidelines about 4 weeks ago. We are studying how to apply it whether it is suitable or not. We are currently conducting simulations in several regions, be it provinces, districts and cities," he said. Budi.

Budi emphasized that the risk indicator for the rate of transmission to handling of COVID-19 that Dante conveyed was a risk indicator based on the latest WHO guidelines.

There is also an indicator for assessing the handling of a pandemic in each province, seen from the level of transmission rate, namely indicators of the number of cases, the presence of imported cases, the emergence of case clusters, to the transmission of cases on a community scale.

Then, the level of transmission rate is juxtaposed with the level of the provincial government response capacity in handling cases, namely testing, tracing, and treatment (3T).

Moreover, this indicator is used as an internal analysis at the Ministry of Health to see how we prepare for the spike in cases after the Eid holiday yesterday.

"This risk indicator, I emphasize, is not, again, not an assessment of the performance of the regions, either province, district or city. It is a risk indicator used by the Ministry of Health internally to see the rate of pandemic transmission and how we must respond," he explained. .
