JAKARTA - Bank Jakarta has partnered with Visa to expand the reach of international transactions. Through this cooperation, Bank Jakarta debit cards can now be used to transact in more than 200 countries starting early 2026.
The collaboration was marked by the launch of the Bank Jakarta Visa Debit Card. This regional bank owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government places cooperation with global payment networks as part of the agenda for service transformation.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung considers the collaboration between Bank Jakarta and Visa to be an important step to encourage bank management to be more professional and able to compete globally.
"I congratulate you. Hopefully this card can be used around the world, more than 200 countries. Starting today I will use this card myself," said Pramono to reporters, Tuesday, January 7.
Bank Jakarta President Director Agus Haryoto Widodo said the launch of the Visa debit card was one of the milestones in the company's transformation process. According to him, this step is part of Bank Jakarta's five-year transformation plan.
"First, the growth of the Jakarta ecosystem. Second, strengthening the quality of assets and governance. Third, building digital capabilities and empowering human resources," said Agus.
Agus added that the transformation requires collaboration across parties, ranging from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, regulators, strategic partners, to the community. Bank Jakarta, he said, will develop financial services gradually and adjust to the provisions of regulators.
In the first six months of launch, Bank Jakarta targets around 400,000 Visa debit card users. Meanwhile, Visa Indonesia Country Manager Vira Widiyasari said that this cooperation is aimed at making it easier for Jakarta residents to transact across borders, including for educational needs, umrah worship, to business activities of MSMEs.
"This launch reflects the changing way we live, work, and strive. Jakarta is moving towards a global city to enter the world's top 50 by 2030, and digital payments are the connecting bridge," said Vira.
