DENPASAR - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has installed a thermo scanner or body temperature scanner to anticipate the entry of passengers suspected of being infected with super flu or influenza A (H3N2) subclade K.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Nugroho Jati said the temperature scanning device used was a facility owned since COVID-19.
"This is reused because it is assessed that the symptoms are the same, so that when there are airport users who have a fever they can be separated immediately to be handled."
"I Gustu Ngurah Rai Airport because this is a large international gateway, I think the symptoms we study and we get information are more or less similar to people with flu, there may only be symptoms, so detecting it will also be more visible when the body temperature is high," said Nugroho, Monday, January 5.
"So that the body temperature scanner that we prepared during the COVID-19 pandemic can be used and we can reinstall it from now on," he continued.
The manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport ensured that all the equipment was functioning normally and had been installed with a total of around 25.
To anticipate the entry of the super flu to Bali via the airport, body temperature scanners are installed in the main lanes of the international and domestic arrival and departure routes.
"The position has been installed, all of them are operating in good condition and more information is certainly from the Ministry of Health regarding how the development and handling of the follow-up will be," said Nugroho.
Currently, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, which serves an average of 66,000 passengers per day, no passengers have been found who could potentially carry Super Flu.
However, Nugroho ensured that his party would still take steps to anticipate, in addition to scanning the temperature of each passenger, also alerting personnel and treatment if necessary.
"For the time being, we are coordinating with the Indonesian Quarantine Center and the Indonesian Port Health Office, for now the status is still gentle and is a call to remain vigilant, there is no special protocol implementation," he said.
To note, until now the Ministry of Health data has stated that by the end of December 2025, there were 62 cases of Super Flu spread across eight provinces, with the largest number in East Java, South Kalimantan, and West Java.
