PADANG - West Sumatra Deputy Governor Vasko Ruseimy urged the police to thoroughly investigate the alleged case of abuse against an elderly woman or lansiabernama Saudah (68) in Pasaman Regency.

"I ask law enforcement to move quickly to arrest the perpetrators without discrimination," said Vasko Ruseimy on the sidelines of a meeting with the Regional Police Chief of West Sumatra, Inspector General Gatot Tri Suryanta in Padang City, Monday, January 5, reported by ANTARA.

Vasko said the case of abuse against the elderly woman was intolerable and "disrespectful" because it targeted someone who was defenseless.

Therefore, he asked the police to move quickly and process the law of the perpetrator.

In addition, Vasko also asked the Pasaman Police Chief to follow up on the case until the perpetrators were arrested and emphasized that law enforcement must be carried out without compromise.

"The point is there is no story, whoever is backing him, arrest him, we will fight it. This is too rude, sir," he said.

The case began with the persecution that befell Saudah in Nagari Padang Mantinggi, Rao District, Pasaman Regency, on Thursday (1/1).

Residents found the victim in a bruised condition on his face and his eyes were blue, allegedly due to violence. Saudah is now undergoing medical treatment for the injuries he suffered.

In a weak physical condition, Saudah said that he did not intend to prohibit activities at the location, but asked that activities be stopped during the day.

When he shone a flashlight at several people at the location, he was suddenly thrown a stone, beaten, then dragged into the bushes.

The victim admitted that he had lost consciousness after the persecution. Residents then found Saudah in a serious condition and took him to the nearest health facility.

Meanwhile, the police are still developing the investigation by tracing the alleged involvement of the perpetrators who are said to often be active in the river area.
