JAKARTA - The South Kalimantan Provincial Government (Kalsel) is waiting for the results of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH) audit of several companies, especially coal mines, which are suspected of contributing to flooding in various areas in the province.

"KLH is conducting an environmental audit on the environmental impact allegedly caused by several companies other than rain. Why the flood can happen, whether there is an environmental impact caused by the company, we will follow up but wait for the KLH audit," said Regional Secretary (Sekda) Kalsel M Syarifuddin, ANTARA, Sunday, January 4, 2026.

He asked the public to be patient until the results of the KLH audit were completed on the environmental impact that caused the flood.

"For emergency handling, the local government has provided public kitchens at evacuation posts in several places, this is most needed by affected residents," he said.

Regarding the flood that has not receded for days, he welcomed the idea of the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide temporary housing assistance (huntara) for affected victims in South Kalimantan if needed.

However, he said, this huntara assistance is still seeing conditions on the ground.

However, he said, what was certain was that the local government provided temporary evacuation posts equipped with public kitchens for the daily food needs of flood victims.

"For the status of the flood disaster, the West Kalimantan Provincial Government is still setting the standby status, we will see what the future development will be, we will continue to monitor," said Syarifuddin.

On December 30, 2025, Minister of LH Hanif Fasiol Nurofiq, while reviewing the flood in Bincau Village, Martapura, Banjar Regency, stated that he would immediately audit several companies, especially mines in South Kalimantan, which were suspected of contributing to the floods in the province.

"KLH has listed several companies suspected of violating environmental issues," he said.
