JAKARTA - Paris, France, emerged as the world's best city in 2025, for the sixth consecutive time, in the 100 Best City Destinations Index by data analysis company Euromonitor International.
It has been a year full of tourist visits to the city, thanks to Notre Dame's reopening and the influx of football fans coming to see the trophy after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League title for the first time.
"This metropolis is more than ready, thanks to its tourism policies and infrastructure," the report said, quoted by CNN (2/1).
The index looks at leading cities from around the world and ranks them based on criteria including tourism, sustainability, economic performance, and health and safety.
Overall, Europe dominates the 2025 ranking with six cities in the top 10. Madrid is ranked 2nd, Rome and Milan are ranked 4th and 5th, Amsterdam is ranked 7th and Barcelona has climbed two places to 8th position.
London, which last year dropped out of the top 10 to rank 13th, this year is ranked 18th on the list, between Hong Kong in 17th place and Kyoto in 19th.
Meanwhile, Asia-Pacific showed good performance, with Tokyo ranked 3rd, Singapore ranked 9th, and Seoul rising to 10th.
New York, once again ranked 6th, is the only American city in the top 10. Los Angeles, which climbed five places to 13th, is the next highest city. Orlando, Florida, leads the world in tourism performance, with strong domestic travel at its core.

Hong Kong ranked second for international arrivals, with an estimated 23.2 million trips. London was third with 22.7 million visitors, and Macau (a gambling hub dubbed "China's Vegas") was fourth with 20.4 million visitors.
Euromonitor International noted several trends for 2025. To address the problem of overtourism, cities are reworking their tourism strategies to focus on value, not volume. That means targeting visitors who stay longer, spend more money, and engage more responsibly with the local environment and culture.
"Rising security concerns, increasing tourism flows, overtourism and inflationary pressures" are the reasons behind the decision of several destinations to revise entry fees and accelerate the adoption of electronic travel authorization systems, said Euromonitor International, which will affect the long-term attractiveness of the cities.
