JAKARTA - The Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda Kepri) is investigating an alleged immoral video starring the Head of the Batam City Industrial and Trade Office (Kadisperindag) with the initials GR as a tool for extortion.

The Regional Police Chief of North Sumatra, Inspector General of Police Asep Safrudin, said that the report of alleged extortion with GR victims through a video containing immoral content was submitted to the North Sumatra Regional Police on Monday, December 29.

"The Gusti Riau Report (GR-red) was concerned that he complained that he felt he was being squeezed by someone," said Asep at the Kepri Police Headquarters, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

In the report, said Asep, GR as the reporter did not know who the extortioner was. For this reason, investigators are digging to find out who the extortioner is.

"The person concerned (GR) said he did not know who was being extorted, then we are investigating the complaint report by the ranks of the Criminal Investigation Unit," he said.

Regarding the truth that the man in the video containing immorality is GR, Asep emphasized that it was being investigated by investigators.

"Cyber investigators, he continued, checked the mobile phone used by GR to find out whether the video was true or not.

"We will check it again. We will check the phone whether the video is true or not, who is the person, what is the phone number (the perpetrator), then who is the identity," he said.

Until now, investigators have only asked for information from GR as the reported person to be deepened as the first step in starting the investigation.

"The one who was called (asked for information) was the person concerned who reported. (Case) this is being investigated, it will be investigated," said Asep.

Previously, a video containing immorality involving the Head of the Batam City Trade and Industry Office with the initials GR went viral.

The 23-second video shows the face of an ASN Head of the Batam City Industrial and Trade Office (Kadisperindag) with the initials GR while making a video call with a woman whose identity is not known.

In the video that spread among the media, the ASN figure was seen communicating while showing the inside of his pants to the woman who was his conversation partner. Where the woman, after being shown the bottom of the man, replied "Big", then was echoed by the figure with a smile and laughter.

The case of the viral video has been known by the Mayor of Batam Amsakar Ahmad, and regrets that it happened.

The Mayor of Batam has asked an internal team from the Regional Human Resources Agency (BKD) to investigate the incident, including asking for information from the ASN.

"My internal team asked the Head of BKD to conduct a review of the case that occurred, including also investigating information from the person concerned (GR)," said Amsakar in Batam, Monday, December 29.

According to him, if the case has been exposed, and revealed by law enforcement officers, as well as by the BKD Team, there will be sanctions that can be imposed on the ASN.

"The imposition of sanctions for the case that occurred against ASN officials has a mechanism as stipulated in the employment regulations," he said.

Amsakar emphasized that if the case was true, the violation committed by the individual fell into the category of serious violations whose risks or consequences could be dismissed from their posts for 12 months, could be demoted from their posts for 12 months and could be dismissed without their own request.

"So there are three sanctions that can be given if this case is later revealed and clear, back through law enforcement officers and from the city government channel," said Amsakar.
