New Year's Eve, Police Close Sudirman-Thamrin Road to Senayan

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement a car-free night on New Year's Eve 2026 on Jalan Sudirman - Thamrin to Senayan Roundabout.

Regarding this, the Head of Operations and Planning of the Traffic Police, Kompol Robby Hefados, explained that the road section would be closed on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The closure starts at 18.00 WIB until 02.00 WIB.

"The closure of traffic flow from the Horse Statue Roundabout to the Senayan Roundabout. It will be carried out from 18.00 to 02.00 in the morning," he said in a statement, Sunday, December 28, 2025.

Robby said that all vehicle traffic to the Sudirman-Thamrin area would be diverted.

According to him, this arrangement was carried out following the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's plan to prepare eight New Year's entertainment stages, which are spread from the Horse Statue Roundabout to Senayan Roundabout.

In addition to traffic engineering, the police also highlighted the issue of illegal parking on New Year's Eve. Enforcement will be carried out together with the Transportation Service and Satpol PP, especially on roads that are prone to congestion around crowded centers.

"Later, the Directorate of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya will work with the Transportation Service, and also related stakeholders including Satpol PP, for maximum efforts in regulating parking areas around the location. Especially on roads that are affected by density during the New Year's Eve," he said.

For security, said Robby, the Traffic Police of the Metro Jaya Police deployed around 1,500 personnel during the Lilin Operation, in conjunction with the regional Traffic Police.

"And for the New Year's Eve itself, we will involve almost 800 personnel. Later join the regional ranks, with the Police," he concluded.
