JAKARTA - The mother of the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) for the period 2019-2024 Nadiem Anwar Makarim, Atika Algadrie, expressed her gratitude for the postponement of her son's first trial.
Atika assessed that the panel of judges of the Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court and the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) prosecutor had been tolerant and cooperative by considering Nadiem's health condition which was still in the post-operative recovery period.
"Thank you to all of them," said Atika after the trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Antara, Tuesday, December 23.
He admitted that he actually hoped that the trial process for his son's case could be completed soon. However, according to him, Nadiem's health condition must remain the top priority.
Atika also said that some time ago he had visited Nadiem. On that occasion, Nadiem gave a letter to his mother in commemoration of Mother's Day.
"The letter made me very sad and sad, but there was also energy there to continue to fight for this truth," said Atika.
The Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court again postponed the trial of the alleged corruption case of the education digitization program in the form of the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM) in the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022 which ensnared Nadiem as a defendant.
The postponement of the trial was carried out because Nadiem was still in a post-operative condition after undergoing surgery some time ago.
"We give them the opportunity to undergo a 21-day treatment period and the trial will be reopened on Monday, January 5," said Presiding Judge Purwanto Abdullah when presiding over the reading of the indictment at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Tuesday.
The first trial with the agenda of reading the indictment against Nadiem was previously scheduled to take place on Tuesday (16/12), but was postponed because the person concerned was still being escorted or granted a postponement of detention due to health conditions.
Apart from Nadiem, there are four other suspects in the case, namely Sri Wahyuningsih, Ibrahim, Mulyatsyah, and former Special Staff for the Minister of Education and Culture Jurist Tan. Sri Wahyuningsih, Ibrahim, and Mulyatsyah have undergone a trial to read the indictment on Tuesday (16/12), while the case file for Jurist Tan has not been forwarded because the person concerned is still at large.
In the trial of the indictment against Sri Wahyuningsih, Ibrahim, and Mulyatsyah, it was revealed that the alleged state losses in this case amounted to IDR 2.18 trillion.
The losses consist of IDR 1.56 trillion related to the education digitization program at the Ministry of Education and Culture as well as 44.05 million US dollars or the equivalent of IDR 621.39 billion due to the procurement of CDM which was deemed unnecessary and did not provide benefits in the program.
During the trial, a number of parties who were allegedly enriched, including Nadiem, were revealed to have received funds of IDR 809.59 billion from PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (PT AKAB) through PT Gojek Indonesia.
