Bahlil's message at the Rapimnas: Golkar Must Do Welfare Politics, Not 'Tricky' Politics

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman, Bahlil Lahadalia, reminded all cadres to make Golkar Party a political party that is prosperous, not a cunning political party. He emphasized that Golkar is a national asset whose goal is to work.

"Then in my study, Golkar must do welfare politics, not tricky politics. Because we are indeed combined in the functional category," said Bahlil at the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at the Golkar DPP Office, Jakarta, Saturday, December 20.

Bahlil said that when Golkar was born, it was hoped that there would be one political force that was not affiliated with political parties. He assessed that this hope was the basis for Golkar not to be like other political parties.

"At that time we became a group of political participants but became a political party when we entered the post-reform era, which is the new paradigm of the Golkar Party. So we have to think that we shouldn't be like others," he said.

"Well, in that perspective, I want to convey that the Rapimnas forum is the highest decision-making forum number two after the National Congress. And this is part of the mechanism," continued Bahlil.

Bahlil emphasized that the Golkar Party must not worship individualism and must not be feudal. He said, Golkar has taught that cadres must obey and submit to existing rules and mechanisms.

"We have a basic budget, we have a house budget, we have a PO, we have Juklak and Juknis. Therefore, what should we hear? Yes, the rules," he explained.

"So I have to say here, and all of you are Golkar figures, Golkar heroes who are on the front lines to fulfill what will be the target of the election later in 2029," added Bahlil.

Bahlil said that Golkar must increase the number of seats in parliament in the 2029 election.

"Well, in relation to that, we have also carried out, in addition to Rapimnas, plenary mechanism meetings and daily meetings as part of consolidation. The hope is that we must be able to produce a program of thought or evaluation of what we have done," he concluded.
