BANDUNG - Residents in the Baranangsiang, Kosambi, Bandung City, area were shaken by the discovery of a suspicious object suspected to be a bomb in front of the entrance to the GKPS Church, Friday, December 19.

Based on monitoring at the location, the West Java Police's Brimob Unit Bomb Disposal (Jibom) team immediately arrived at the scene to carry out initial security.

Officers sterilized the area around it and put up a police line to prevent residents from approaching the discovery site.

The security manager of the Ruko ITC Kosambi complex, Asep Kamaludin, said that the first report he received was around 08.30 WIB from one of the ruko managers named Agus. At that time, Agus reported a suspicious object resembling a bomb.

"Around half past nine in the morning I received a report from Mr. Agus. He said he had reported to the post twice because I had not come. As soon as I arrived, Mr. Agus reported again and said there was a suspicious box like a bomb," Asep said when met at the location, quoted from Antara, Friday, December 19.

Asep admitted that he immediately documented the findings using a mobile phone without approaching the object in question. He chose to keep his distance because he judged that the object had the potential to be dangerous.

"I immediately took a picture with my phone. I didn't dare hold or get close because it looked suspicious," he said.

After that, Asep immediately reported the findings to the Sumur Bandung Police for follow-up. According to him, the suspicious object was in the shape of a box resembling a box with a number of cables seen coming out of it.

"It looks like a box, a box. There are cables coming out, it's clear, that's why I don't dare hold it," said Asep.

He estimated the distance between himself and the object was about one meter more when he first saw it. The location of the discovery is near the GKPS Church building which is located in the ITC Kosambi row house area.

Asep ensured that when the suspicious object was found, there was no worship activity or other activities taking place inside the church.

"His position is close to the church building. At that time there was no activity, and I didn't get close either," he said.

As of Friday afternoon, the police were still carrying out security and further checks at the location to ensure the security of the surrounding area.
