JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) demands a two-year prison sentence for T Faisal Riza, Head of the Regional Housing Provision Office (BP2P) for Region I of Sumatra at the Directorate General (Ditjen) Housing of the Ministry of PUPR.
T Faisal Riza is suspected of corruption in the construction of student apartment houses (rusunawa) in Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province.
The demands were read by JPU Edwardo during the trial at the Corruption Crime Court at the Banda Aceh District Court, in Banda Aceh, Thursday, December 18.
In addition to imprisonment, the JPU also demanded that the defendant T Faisal Riza pay a fine of Rp. 30 million with the provision that if he does not pay, he will be sentenced to one year in prison.
The JPU stated that the defendant was proven to be legally and convincingly guilty of violating Article 3 jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 jo Article 55 Paragraph (1) ke-1 jo 64 of the Criminal Code.
In his demand, the JPU stated that the defendant as Head of the Regional Housing Provision Implementation Office I Sumatra at the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR managed a budget of Rp. 14 billion sourced from the 2021 and 2022 State Budgets for the construction of student apartments at the Lhokseumawe Polytechnic.
The construction of the rusunawa was carried out by PT Sumber Alam Sejahtera. However, in the implementation, the construction was only about 90 percent. Based on expert calculations, the value of the building only reached Rp10 billion from the contract.
"Meanwhile, the disbursement of funds was carried out to reach Rp. 12 billion. Based on the results of the calculation, the state losses incurred in the construction of the rusunawa reached Rp. 928.28 million," said the JPU.
