Polresta Yogyakarta Deploys 775 Personnel to Secure New Year 2026

JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Police have deployed 775 personnel to secure the New Year 2026 celebration.

Head of Operations of Yogyakarta Police, Kompol Sumanto, said security was focused on Tugu, Malioboro, to the Zero Kilometer Point, which is estimated to be the point of concentration of the mass during the New Year's Eve.

"For security during the New Year's Eve, we have involved 775 personnel, starting from the Tugu area to the Kilometer Zero Point," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 17.

In addition to security for the New Year's Eve, the Yogyakarta Police also carried out the Lilin Progo 2025 Operation to secure Christmas and New Year.

In the centralized operation, a total of around 268 personnel were involved, by setting up four security posts.

The four posts consist of one integrated post in the Teteg Yogyakarta area and security posts located in the Tugu area, Kilometer Zero Point, Malioboro, and the Gembira Loka Zoo area.

Sumanto explained that for the security of the Christmas celebration, the Yogyakarta Police deployed around 600 personnel to support the smooth running of worship and maintain public security and order.

In terms of medical preparedness, the Yogyakarta Police also dispatched ambulances at a number of strategic points during the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays.

During the Christmas holiday, ambulances were stationed at several points, including at Teteg Post, the DIY DPRD area, the former Mutiara Hotel, Ngejaman, and at the Kilometer Zero area.

"At the time of the new year change, if I count it, there are 12 ambulances that we have prepared," he said.

The Yogyakarta Police also coordinate with the Yogyakarta City Government and related agencies to ensure the readiness of additional ambulances during the Christmas and New Year security period.

Head of the Yogyakarta City Police Pamong Praja Unit (Satpol PP) Octo Noor Arafat said that his party also supported Christmas and New Year's Eve security by deploying around 240 personnel per day outside the Christmas post.

He said that for the security of the Christmas celebration on December 24-25, his party involved 92 personnel of the Community Protection Task Force (Satgas Linmas) and 75 personnel of the Satpol PP and BKO who were on alert at 14 kemantren.

The security was focused on 23 churches in the city of Yogyakarta, as well as supporting the Yogyakarta Police in controlling public order.

"We are ready to accompany the Yogyakarta Police as well as to remove street vendors and illegal parking," said Octo.
