Minister of Human Rights: The full return of the Otsus fund is proof that Prabowo loves Papua

JAKARTA - Human Rights Minister (HAM) Natalius Pigai said that the Special Autonomy Fund (Otsus) for Papua, which was returned with full value, was proof of President Prabowo Subianto's love for the Papuan people.

He said that previously the value of the Papua Otsus Fund was partially cut.

However, this time, according to him, Prabowo has restored its value to more than IDR 12 trillion and also provided various programs, including Free Nutritious Meals (MBG).

"That is why the President emphasized that this large budget must be utilized and can really be felt by the Papuan people," said Natalius as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 17.

With the return of the otsus funds to their full value, according to him, the budget that entered Papua reached almost Rp. 50 trillion, the rest in the form of the implementation of various programs. In addition to MBG, he said other programs were fishing villages, education, and other programs.

According to him, the central government asked the government in Papua to use the funds to improve the social and economic capacity of the community. Among others, reducing maternal mortality, child mortality, poverty, stunting, illiteracy rates, to controlling inflation and the price of necessities.

"Then the human rights indices in the context of Ekosob (economic, social, and cultural) in Papua will increase from the perspective of statistics," he said.

Until now, according to him, statistical data in Papua has always been the lowest in Indonesia. According to him, the provision of large budgets from the government for Papua must improve the welfare of the people.

"The President also emphasized that we all must work to increase self-esteem, dignity, and must feel that Indonesia can be happy," he said.
