The Fastest Catholic Church Construction in Indonesia by the United and Firm Association (HBT) Awarded the MURI Charter

JAKARTA - The St. Maria Goreti Church of St. Petrus and Paulus Lurasik Parish, North Central Timor Regency (TTU), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) was built for four months through the support of the United Firm Association (HBT) together with the local people. The consecration of the church was led by the Indonesian Cardinal, Mgr. Dr. Ignatius Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo, PR, accompanied by Bishop of Atambua Bishop Mgr. Dr. Dominikus Saku, PR.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Monday, December 15, was also attended by the Governor of NTT Melki Laka Lena, the Deputy Governor of Central Papua Deinas Geley, the General Chairman of HBT Andreas Sofiandi, the Regent of TTU Yosep Falentinus Kebo, the Regent of Belu Willybrodus Lay, the Deputy Regent of Malaka Henri Simu, elements of Forkopimda, the imam, donors, and thousands of people from various regions.

The series of activities began with the inauguration of the Santo Lambertus Prayer Park and Bukit Andreas and Lopo, which was donated by the Erha beauty clinic, followed by the blessing of the St. Maria Goreti Church. The handover of the church keys was carried out by the General Chairman of HBT to Cardinal Ignatius Suharyo and was passed on to the Bishop of the Atambua Diocese, who was then followed by the cutting of the ribbon and the signing of the inscription.

In his remarks, the General Chairman of HBT Andreas Sofiandi and the donors have also donated free cataract eye surgery for local residents, the number of which reached hundreds of local residents, this organization has also helped donate and renovate up to 9 churches in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, HBT General Chair Andreas Sofiandi explained that the construction of the church began with the laying of the first stone on August 15, 2025 and was completed according to the target on December 15, 2025 so that it could be used by the congregation at Christmas celebrations.

He added that most of the construction materials used local materials, while some other needs were brought in from Jakarta which were sent as donations from the shipping company PT TEMAS Tbk and the construction process was carried out with the spirit of mutual cooperation and service.
