Help Flood Victims in Sumatra, Kaltara PMI Himpun Rp338 Million

TANJUNG SELOR - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) North Kalimantan (Kaltara) together with the PMI districts/cities in Kaltara distributed humanitarian donations for flood victims in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The donation drive was carried out from December 2 to 15, 2025.

The Chairman of the Kaltara PMI, Risdianto, said that the floods that hit a number of areas on the island of Sumatra had a significant impact on people's lives, especially in meeting basic needs.

"This donation drive is a follow-up to the direction of the Chairman of the Central PMI that all provincial PMI and district/city PMI in Indonesia participate in helping disaster victims," said Risdianto, Tuesday, December 16.

He revealed that the collected assistance was not only in the form of funds, but also logistics, equipment, human resources, and other humanitarian support.

"To support the distribution of assistance, the Kaltara PMI instructed all district/city PMI to open the Restoring Family Links (RFL) Service and Humanitarian Donation Post as stated in the Letter of the Head of the North Kalimantan Provincial PMI Number 015/04.05.00/ORG/XI/2025 dated November 30, 2025," explained Risdianto who also served as Regional Secretary (Sekda) in the Bulungan Regency Government (Pemkab).

At the same time, continued Risdianto, the PMI of districts/cities throughout Kaltara also carried out fundraising by involving managers, employees, and PMI volunteers from the elements of the Red Cross Youth (PMR), Volunteer Corps (KSR), and Volunteer Force (TSR), PMI partners, and the general public.

"Fundraising is carried out in public spaces and through the optimization of social media. The public can also channel assistance through the official PMI provincial and PMI district/city accounts," he said.

He explained, until December 15, 2025 at 17.00 Wita, the total donation funds that were successfully collected reached Rp338,648,732. The details, Kaltara PMI amounted to Rp14,581,000, Bulungan Regency PMI Rp86,543,210, Tarakan City PMI Rp122,859,805, Nunukan Regency PMI Rp120,086,708, and Malinau Regency PMI Rp5,838,000.

"The data is still provisional because there are still organizations that will distribute assistance through PMI," he explained.

He said that the distribution of assistance was scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, 2025 through PMI in each destination province.

"Based on coordination with the Central PMI, the proportion of distribution of assistance is set for Aceh at 40 percent, North Sumatra at 35 percent, and West Sumatra at 25 percent," he said.

Risdianto expressed his appreciation to all parties who had contributed to the donation drive.

"We will ensure that the distribution of assistance is carried out according to priority needs and coordinated with the local PMI," he said.
