Agus explained that the Zeni Battalion was tasked with restoring damaged facilities such as broken roads, building posts, and building emergency bridges or bailey bridges.
Meanwhile, the BTP serves to support the recovery process of the region such as mud cleaning, wood and building temporary or permanent housing for residents.
Agus continued, the presence of the soldiers is also to help distribute fuel or electricity to disaster areas carried out by the State Electricity Company (PLN), Pertamina and construction carried out by the Ministry of Public Works.
Agus explained that all battalions were equipped with main weapons system equipment (alutsista) such as heavy equipment to support the work of restoring infrastructure.
Until now, there are 35,477 personnel serving in the disaster area in Sumatra. This number consists of 28,319 TNI AD personnel, 4,589 TNI AL personnel and 2,569 TNI AU.
Agus ensured that all military equipment and TNI members were still deployed at the disaster site to assist in the post-disaster recovery process.
