JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the Ministry of Forestry to conduct a total audit and evaluation of the Toba Pulp Lestari operating permit which operates in the forest products processing sector, especially pulp and other derivative products.
"Especially for PT Toba Pulp Lestari, PT TPL, which has been widely reported. The President specifically ordered me to audit and evaluate this PT TPL in total," said Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 15.
Raja Juli said he instructed Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki to focus on monitoring the audit.
"God willing, once again, if (there is) a result, I will announce it again to the public, whether we will withdraw or we will rationalize the PBPH that they have controlled in the past few years," he said.
The PBPH called Raja Juli is an abbreviation of the Permit to Use Forest.
On the same occasion, Raja Juli also announced that the Ministry of Forestry had revoked 22 PBPH with an area of 1,012,016 hectares. The area includes 116,198 hectares of land in Sumatra.
"I will write the SK (decision letter) for the revocation and I will convey it later," he said.

Raja Juli explained that the revocation was a follow-up to the President's order to regulate the problematic PBPH, which is estimated to reach 1.5 million hectares.
"On February 3, I have revoked 18 PBPH covering 1.5 million hectares, plus today 1 million hectares. Therefore, there has been a crackdown on about 1.5 million hectares of our forests," said Menhut.
In the same press conference, Raja Juli also announced the steps that had been taken by the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) consisting of a number of ministries/institutions.
"As of today, we (the Ministry of Forestry, ed.) have disciplined 11 legal subjects who will once again synergize the law enforcement process with the PKH Task Force," said Raja Juli.
The government conducted a strict evaluation and audit of a number of companies engaged in the forest product processing sector after flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra on November 25, 2025.
The disaster, in addition to extreme weather factors, is believed to have been exacerbated by environmental damage due to the massive conversion of forests into monoculture plantations and mines.
