CIREBON - The Cirebon City Government, West Java, has deployed joint personnel to discipline street vendors (PKL) who are active on the banks of the Sukalila River. This crackdown is carried out as part of the arrangement of the area as well as the return of river functions.

The Mayor of Cirebon, Effendi Edo, said the crackdown was carried out after the deadline given to traders to dismantle buildings on the riverbanks ended.

Some traders have dismantled the stalls independently the day before with the assistance of the local government. The self-demolishing process took place in an orderly and conducive manner because the traders understood the rules prohibiting the establishment of buildings on the riverbanks.

Edo emphasized that the local government not only carried out enforcement, but also prepared relocation solutions so that traders could continue their business activities.

"The government does not let traders after being dismantled without being given space or place," he said.

According to him, a number of alternative locations have been prepared for pigura traders, flower arrangements, garden traders, to food traders who previously sold on the banks of the Sukalila River.

In the implementation of the crackdown, about 350 joint personnel were deployed consisting of TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, and related local government units.

"Today, the joint personnel began moving to clean and organize the Sukalila River banks," said Edo.

In addition, the local government also facilitates the process of moving goods by preparing a transportation fleet for traders. This facilitation involves a number of regional device organizations, including Satpol PP, the Transportation Service, BPBD, and the Fire Service.
