JAKARTA - United Arab Emirates (UAE) based shipbuilding and repair company Seagate Shipyard, launched the first floating villa, which will be part of the Sea Palace floating resort project worth 870 million UAE dirhams or around Rp. 3.3 trillion, Monday 24 May.
This project is part of a floating luxury hotel project and 12 itinerant boat villas that will be located near Dubai Marina.
The first mobile floating villa, an eco-friendly house known as Neptune was inaugurated in Al Hamra Harbor, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
"The project will include a luxury hotel with 156 suites and rooms, surrounded by 12 residential floating boats," said Muhammad Elbahrawy, chief executive of Seagate Shipyard.
Seagate Shipyard is one of the few developers in the UAE to build floating residences or hotels.
Meanwhile, the construction of the whole Sea Palace Floating Resort project, inspired by the glass boat design, will be completed in the first quarter of 2023. The remaining units in the project will be launched soon, the management said.
The first floating villa in the project went on sale in October last year. The buyer was Dubai-based entrepreneur Balvinder Sahani for 20 million UAE dirhams, or around Rp. 77.7 billion.
Later, each boat villa will contain two floors and have an area of approximately 10,333 square feet. The villa will have four bedroom suites, indoor and outdoor living areas, a rooftop with an infinity pool and a ground floor made of glass allowing for views of the water. There will also be a kitchen, living room and two separate rooms for staff.
Interestingly, the furniture for the floating villa was specially designed by luxury car company Aston Martin, the developer said in November last year.
Not only that, this villa will be supported by solar energy technology, air filtration and wastewater treatment. The engine room is also equipped with a silencer, so it is soundproof. The villa is also equipped with a surge resistant hydraulic engine, which allows the villa to move to another location.
To ensure the safety and comfort of its residents, each villa unit is equipped with a smart home system, international standard security and self-sterilization system.
"Dubai was chosen as a resort location because it is a significant tourism and investment destination. It offers flexible economic policies and strong infrastructure, said Elbahrawy.
Later, the Sea Palace floating resort will be managed by an international hotel chain and investors will be able to purchase units in the property, according to the company's website.
To note, the Sea Palace project will be part of the Heart of Europe mega-project worth US$5 billion or around Rp. 71.3 trillion in Dubai, which is being worked on by the Kleindienst Group. The first phase of the project will open to the public in time for Expo 2020, the developer said earlier this month.
