Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said he was ready if summoned by investigators from the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office regarding the investigation into the alleged corruption case of abuse of power within the Bandung City Government.
"If it is in accordance with the legal process, we have to come. Ready, God willing," said Farhan in Bandung, Thursday, December 11, as reported by ANTARA.
Farhan emphasized that he would cooperate in following the entire legal process if necessary after the Bandung Kejari appointed Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwindan, a member of the Bandung City DPRD, Rendiana Awangga, as a suspect in the case.
Farhan said he was open in following the ongoing legal process and ensured that public services and the wheels of government continued to run normally.
"We ensure that compliance in the implementation of various programs and activities is carried out as well as possible. This is a tough job for the inspectorate to prove that all of this is a form of warning," he said.
According to him, the Bandung City Government will continue to strengthen the steps of bureaucratic reform and internal supervision as part of its commitment to maintaining the integrity of governance.
"We invite all parties not to speculate and follow official information from the competent authorities," he said.
Farhan said this legal process was entirely under the authority of law enforcement officials and his party provided full space for investigators to work independently and professionally.
"I want to emphasize that the Bandung City Government is in a stable condition and all public services are running normally without interruption," he said.
Previously, the Bandung District Attorney said that it was possible for investigators to summon the Mayor of Bandung in the development of the case that ensnared Deputy Mayor Erwin and legislator Rendiana.
The two suspects allegedly asked for a number of goods and services procurement projects to be directed at parties affiliated with them.
"Regarding the Mayor of Bandung, investigators are working very professionally. Until now, investigators have not seen an urgency to ask for information from the Mayor of Bandung based on the existing evidence," said Head of Special Investigation Unit of the Bandung Prosecutor's Office, Ridha Nurul Ihsan.
