Police Arrest 8 Student Persecutors In Kuta Bali

The Kuta Sector Police, Bali, arrested eight people suspected of molesting a student with the initials YSBA (23) in front of a shophouse on Dewi Sri Street No. 23, Legian, Kuta, Badung Regency.

"Currently, the perpetrators have been detained at the Kuta Police and are undergoing intensive examination," said Kuta Police Chief Kompol Agus Riwayanto Diputra, Wednesday, December 10.

Until now, the police are still conducting investigations and have not yet determined the status of the eight people. The identity of the alleged perpetrator has not been disclosed by the police.

Agus explained that the incident occurred at around 06.30 WITA on Dewi Sri Street No. 23, Legian, Kuta, Badung.

The abuse carried out by a group of youths was caught on CCTV cameras and went viral on several social media platforms in Bali.

In the video footage circulating, there were 15 people who attacked two students without knowing the reason.

After the video went viral, Kuta Police Chief Kompol Agus Riwayanto Diputra immediately ordered the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kuta Police, Iptu Matheus Diaz Prakoso, and the Opsnal Team to carry out investigations and pursue the perpetrators.

Agus explained that based on the information of the YSBA victim who was sitting with his friend at that time, the group suddenly approached him who claimed to be from one of the regions.

"The perpetrators then carried out persecution using wood and paving blocks. The victim was hit on the back of the head three times using a paving block, as well as parts of the back and hands using wood up to four times," he said.

The victim's friend who was at the location also became a victim of beatings. As a result of the incident, Agus said, the victim suffered abrasions, his left hand was swollen, and his head was bruised.

After receiving the victim's official report, the Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Opsnal Team moved quickly to identify the perpetrators.

Thanks to quick work and coordination in the field, eight perpetrators were arrested and are currently undergoing intensive examination at the Kuta Police.

Meanwhile, seven other people are still being hunted by the police.

Based on an official statement from the Denpasar Police Public Relations, the eight alleged perpetrators initially drank alcoholic beverages of wine from Tuesday (9/12) night at 21.00 WITA to Wednesday morning.

However, the police are still digging up information from the eight alleged perpetrators to obtain valid information.
