Ma'ruf Amin Affirms Never Approval Zulva Mustafa As PJ Ketum PBNU

JAKARTA The extended family KH Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that Zulva Mustafa's claim that he had obtained the blessing of the 13th Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to be the Acting General Chairperson (PJ) of Tanfidziyah PBNU was not true. This statement was made in order to straighten out information that was considered misleading and disturbing.

"We, the big family, are disturbed by the news on behalf of our parents' blessing as the legitimacy to become the Acting General Chair of PBNU. We straighten out that Zulva Mustafa's claim is not true," said Siti Haniatunnisa on behalf of the family, in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 10.

Haniatunnisa explained that Ma'ruf Amin is a figure who always upholds organizational leaders, respects senior kiai, and has never interfered in internal conflicts personally.

Because of this principle, the family ensures that Ma'ruf Amin does not support any party in the internal PBNU polemic.

The family also emphasized that Ma'ruf Amin adhered to the results of the NU Elderly and Mustasyar Forum which was held on December 6 at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang. The forum issued four points of attitude related to the internal dynamics of PBNU:

1. The impeachment process for the General Chair is considered not in accordance with the provisions of the AD/ART.

2. The Forum sees allegations of serious mistakes in decision making that need to be clarified through organizational mechanisms.

3. Determination of the Acting General Chair is recommended not to be carried out before all organizational procedures and deliberations are taken according to the rules.

4. All parties are asked to refrain, maintain organizational order, and resolve problems through the NU's internal mechanism without involving external processes.

"We are obliged to clarify in order to maintain the good name of our parents and the dignity of Nahdlatul Ulama. He is not in a position to approve or support one of the parties; he adheres to the provisions that have been decided by the NU Elderly and Mustasyar Forum in Tebuireng," said Haniatunnisa.

The family hopes that this clarification can stop the misuse of Ma'ruf Amin's name by any party and remind all parties to prioritize adab, tabayyun, and deliberation in order to maintain the dignity of the organization.

Previously, after being appointed as Acting (Pj) General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board in a plenary meeting, Zulfa Mustofa admitted that he had received his blessing from Ma'ruf Amin before his appointment.

In a press conference after the stipulation, Zulfa said that she was Ma'ruf Amin's nephew. He admitted that he had asked Ma'ruf Amin for permission and blessing as part of his legitimacy on his appointment. "I am Kiai Haji Ma'ruf Amin's nephew, and I have asked for his blessing," he said.
