Menag: Make The Holy Tri Vesak Vesak Adhesive Rope Brotherhood

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas told Buddhists to make the commemoration of the Vesak Holy Tri feast increasingly glue the brotherhood between each other as stated in the Holy Book of Dhammapada.

"The Dhammapada scriptures state that the birth of Buddhas was a cause of happiness. The dissemination of true teachings is the cause of happiness, unity is the cause of happiness, and the struggle of those who have been united is the cause of happiness," said Menag quoted antara, Tuesday, May 25.

Yaqut said the commemoration of The Holy Vesak This time again should be held in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic with all provisions to prevent transmission. Interaction and friendship between peoples become limited.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic should not make this holy celebration lose its meaning. Thus, he said, according to Buddhism, people should overcome all suffering by taking care of each other.

"This is where we as religious people in Indonesia are tested to be able to understand and live the religious values that we believe in," said Yaqut.

In addition, Yaqut invites Buddhists to be happy in carrying out religious practices in Indonesia that take the middle way. Implementing moderate religious life practices, so as to be able to face the challenges of changing social order in life.

According to Yaqut, as a religious people must believe every problem that occurs can only be solved if man has peace in his life. Peace is sustained by a firm determination to live the truth of the Dhamma so that it continues to adorn its life.

"Peace and happiness become shared responsibilities. Difficulties and problems must also be faced and resolved together. Likewise, all Indonesian Buddhists also have a responsibility to participate in building a society that is harmonious and prosperous," he said.

Yaqut also invited Buddhists to also develop Borobudur Temple as a super-priority. The government has taken a strategic step in realizing the Borobudur restoration program which focuses on the spiritual and educational values of the Borobudur site.

"Make the values of hluhur as a spirit to rise up and unite together to make Borobudur Temple as a destination for religious visits of the world's Buddhism," he said.
