Residents Disappear While Archering Fish On Sali Halmahera Island, SAR Team Deployed To Comb Locations

TERNATE - The Ternate Basarnas Office, North Maluku, deployed personnel to search for a resident of Bosso Village, South Halmahera Regency, who was reported missing while shooting fish in the waters of Sali Island on Monday, December 8.

Kasubsie Operasi dan Siaga Basarnas Ternate, Ferdinando Jofandri, mengatakan pada Selasa, 9 Desember, pihaknya langsung melakukan koordinasi setelah menerima laporan resmi dari masyarakat.

"After receiving a report from the Head of Kaireu Village, the South Halmahera SAR Alert Unit moved quickly to coordinate with potential SAR in the local area and dispatched a team to conduct searches around the scene," said Ferdinando in Ternate, Antara, Tuesday, December 9.

The victim is known as Derianto Cin (24). Until now, the South Halmahera SAR Alert Unit and other SAR elements are still searching.

Information on the disappearance of the victim was first conveyed by the Head of Kaireu Village after residents were worried because Derianto did not return home.

Based on residents' information, Derianto went to shoot fish on Monday, December 8, at around 17.00 WIT. However, until the evening he has not returned as usual.

Residents of Bosso Village and Kaireu Village had conducted an independent search. During the search, they found arrows belonging to the victim floating around the location. The findings confirm the suspicion that the victim was in a dangerous condition, so residents reported to SAR for further treatment.

On Tuesday, December 9, at 07.10 WIT, the South Halmahera SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team was dispatched to Kaireu Village. Upon arrival at the location, the team continued their journey by boat to the search point in the waters of Sali Island.

Penyisiran dilakukan dengan pola menyisir area permukaan laut di titik terakhir korban terlihat serta lokasi penemuan alat panah. Kondisi cuaca dan arus laut turut menjadi pertimbangan dalam operasi ini.

Basarnas berharap pencarian ini segera menemukan petunjuk baru yang mengarah pada keberadaan korban. Hingga kini, operasi SAR masih berlangsung.

The sweeping was carried out using a pattern of combing the sea surface area at the last point where the victim was seen and the location where the arrows were found. Weather conditions and ocean currents are also taken into consideration in this operation.

Basarnas hopes that this search will soon find new clues that lead to the victim's whereabouts. Until now, SAR operations are still ongoing.
