The Indonesian Navy's Air Fleet Is Fully Deployed To Help Flood Victims In Aceh Sumatra

The Navy ranks deployed the main weapon system (alutsista) in the form of helicopters and transport planes to distribute logistical assistance to areas affected by flash floods in Sumatra and Aceh.

Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral TNI Tunggul, said that the deployment of helicopters and transport aircraft had been carried out and the intensity would be increased.

He explained that helicopters were deployed to deliver logistical assistance to the West Sumatra region.

"The US Heli 565 MBe Panther/HS-1310 carried out two logistics distribution sorties with a total of 800 kilograms of assistance, flying from Sutan Sjahrir Air Base, Padang, towards the targets of Malalak, Agam, West Sumatra," said Tunggul.

Meanwhile, Pesud NC 212-200 Aviocar/U-6211 transport aircraft distribute logistics and support for personnel transportation to the Aceh region.

In addition, two other Panther helicopters, namely HS-1305 and HS-1302, were alerted at KRI Semarang (SMR)-594 which docked at Sibolga Pier and KRI dr. Soeharso (SHS)-990 which docked at Krueng Geukueh Pier, Aceh.

"The two helicopter units carry out logistics distribution in the two areas and can also be used in the implementation of air medical evacuation," added Tunggul.

Tunggul added that the air fleet from the Indonesian Navy will continue to be alerted to deliver logistics and evacuation processes for flood victims. Indonesian Navy warships will also continue to be deployed to distribute logistics by sea.

"We realize that our disaster-affected brothers and sisters have lost many things, but they must not lose hope. For this reason, the presence of the Indonesian Navy is to bring hope to our brothers and sisters in disaster-affected areas," said Tunggul.
