BANDA ACEH - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 23 people died in Aceh Province on Monday, December 8 until 16.00 WIB, bringing the total death toll in the province to 389 people.

"The search and rescue team led by Basarnas together with joint elements managed to find 23 bodies on Monday, (8/12)," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, quoted on Tuesday 9 December.

He explained that the joint team in the field continued to work optimally to minimize the number of missing victims.

"The team will continue to make the most efforts possible, as optimally as possible, as effective as possible, so that we can minimize the number of victims who are still missing," he said.

According to Muhari, with the reopening of a number of land access between regencies/cities, the joint post can now update previously unaffordable refugee data.

Previously, the total number of refugees from the three affected provinces was reported to be 975,339 people and currently the number of refugees has increased to 1,057,482 people.

"Of course, this is our job at the main post to continue to optimize logistics distribution so that our brothers and sisters in the evacuation are met with basic food and non-food needs," said Abdul Muhari.
