JAKARTA - Thailand adopted a National Security Council (NSC) resolution that allows new military operations amid rising tensions on the border with Cambodia.

"In announcing the resolution of the NSC, the government will carry out the agreed steps," said Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, quoted by the Khaosod English news portal as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, December 8.

"Military action will be carried out under all circumstances, depending on the conditions of the developing situation, and we have the right to carry out military operations regarding other necessary matters," he said.

Conflicts along the Thailand-Kamboja border escalated over the weekend and continued until Monday, when the two sides accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

Citing a Thai military spokesman, Khaosod reported Cambodia launched airstrikes on the Anupong military base, so Thailand responded with airstrikes targeting Cambodian military infrastructure.
