Ministry Of Social Affairs Targets 400 Thousand Families Free From Social Assistance In 2026

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs targets 400 thousand beneficiary families (KPM) to be free from dependence on social assistance or graduation from being helpless to being empowered as well as an effort to break the chain of poverty.

"God willing, hopefully, if there are no obstacles, our target is at least 400,000 KPM families or beneficiary families who will be graduate," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf during the KPM graduation in Jakarta, Monday, December 8.

Previously, the KPMs were registered as recipients of regular social assistance, such as PKH (Family Hope Program) and basic food assistance.

After obtaining business strengthening and assistance by the Ministry of Social Affairs, they were declared to have upgraded to class to become a more empowered or more independent family than before with various productive businesses.

Gus Ipul said the target for next year's graduation will increase more considering that budget support comes from planning for 2025, while this year it still uses the 2024 budget.

People who are declared to be able to escape the poverty trap in 2025 through the graduation program reach 77 thousand families.

"So far, they are in the PKH program or social assistance, then with business assistance, they can be more independent," he said.

After receiving a graduation from the Ministry of Social Affairs, KPMs who already have businesses will continue to be strengthened so that they do not return to being recipients of social assistance or falling poor again.

The strengthening and empowerment scheme will be handed over and it is the responsibility of the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment (Kemenko PM).

"Don't let him come back again to depend on social assistance. Now we will fully hand over what is already there to the Coordinating Minister (Muhaimin Iskandar). To be followed up, to be coordinated and facilitated, to receive further empowerment programs," said Gus Ipul.
