Building Rental Markup And Official Travel, 2 Central Bengkulu Bawaslu Officials Charged With State Loss Of IDR 150 Million

BENGKULU The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Central Bengkulu District Attorney (Kejari) stated that two defendants, namely former Assistant Treasurer Suripno and former Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Central Bengkulu Regency General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), Elly Fitriana, had harmed state finances amounting to Rp150 million.

The two defendants were charged with Article 2 and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law, as well as Article 55 of the Criminal Code on primary and subsidiary charges.

"Today, the charges have been read out for the defendants Suripno and Elly. The articles charged are Article 2 and Article 3 of the Corruption Crime Act," said Head of the Special Crimes Section (Pidsus) of the Central Bengkulu Kejari Rianto Ade Putra at the Bengkulu Corruption Court (Tipikor), Monday.

Rianto explained that the mode used by the two defendants was to mark the building rental budget and the Central Bengkulu Bawaslu official trip.

The two are suspected of working together to obtain profits through a fictitious report on the rental of the Bawaslu office. The rental fee included in the report is not in accordance with the actual value, while the official travel budget is disbursed even though the trip is not carried out.

The case emerged after the Central Bengkulu Kejari named Suripno and Elly as suspects in October 2025 regarding the management of the Central Bengkulu Bawaslu budget for the 2023 fiscal year.

For their actions, the two defendants were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, and Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code. Subsidiaries, both of them were charged with Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Act.
