JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that the inactive Regent of Ponorogo Sugiri Sancoko received gratuities from a number of projects. Investigations have been carried out by investigators through a marathon examination last week.
"Investigators also conducted examinations of a number of witnesses in other agencies, including the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Ponorogo Regency or called Parpora," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters in his statement quoted Monday, December 8.
"This follows from the alleged gratification received by Brother SUG as the Regent of Ponorogo which is suspected to be related to other projects in the area," he continued.
One of the projects in the spotlight, Budi said, was the Reog Monument and the Ponorogo Civilization Museum (MRMP). A number of locations, a number of points have been searched, and investigators have confiscated a number of documents and electronic evidence which of course were also confirmed in the examination of the witnesses summoned this week," he said.
This means that the activity of being caught red-handed becomes an entry point for the KPK to see whether these practices or modes of corruption also occur in sectors or other agencies.
Previously reported, the KPK named the Regent of Ponorogo Sugiri Sancoko as a suspect along with three other people, namely Agus Pramono who is the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Ponorogo Regency who has been in office since 2012; Yunus Mahatma as Director of Dr. Harjono Hospital Ponorogo Regency; and Sucipto who is a private party partner of Ponorogo Hospital in a work package within Ponorogo Regency.
The determination of the suspect began with a hand arrest operation (OTT) on Friday, November 7. There were three corruption clusters found by the KPK.
The first is related to the alleged bribery of office management. Then bribery for work projects at the Ponorogo Hospital and other receipts or gratuities.
In the bribery case for the management of positions, Yunus as Director of RSUD Dr. Harjono Ponorogo Regency knew that Sugiri would replace it since the beginning of the year. So, he prepared a sum of money and handed it over three times.
The first handover was made by Yunus to Sugiri in February 2025 with a nominal value of Rp. 400 million. This money was given through an aide. Then, in the April-August period, Yunus handed over Rp. 325 million to Agus Pramono.
Then, he again handed over Rp500 million to Ninik, who was Sugiri's relative in November. Thus, the money received by Sugiri reached Rp900 million.
It didn't stop there, Sugiri also received Rp1.4 billion from a work package project in the Ponorogo Hospital with a value of Rp14 billion. This money, called the KPK, was initially received by Yunus as the Head of the Regional Hospital.
Meanwhile, in the last cluster, it is suspected that Sugiri received gratuities in the form of hundreds of millions of money from the private sector.
