Secretary of the Indonesian Navy Information Service Colonel Laode Mohammad Holib said the Indonesian Navy deployed the Ship of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) Bontang (907) to bring 2,000 tons of diesel fuel to the flood area in Sumatra.

"So, the plan is to bring 2,000 tons of fuel (solar) to the operating area," said Laode during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Friday, December 5.

Laode explained that the diesel was distributed to meet the needs of generator fuel which is a source of electricity at the disaster site.

Not only for generator needs, the diesel will also be distributed to KRI which is located around the flood point to be used as fuel.

Laode said that until now several KRIs are still tasked with delivering logistical assistance to the Sibolga, Nias areas to Aceh areas such as Lhokseumawe and Aceh Tamiang.

With the assistance of diesel, Laode believes that KRI activities can run optimally and residents at flood locations can get sufficient electricity.

Previously, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, said that he had deployed two KRI hospitals to be on standby at two flood disaster points in Sumatra, namely Aceh and North Sumatra.

The placement of the KRI hospital was carried out so that flood victims could get medical services quickly and properly.

"The plan will be on standby at Lhokseumawe. Previously, they will stop in Aceh Tamiang. Then, there is another hospital ship in Sibolga," he said, during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, Wednesday (3/12).

He explained that all the hospital warships were equipped with medical officers, medical equipment, and several other supporting forces.

Not only providing medical services, he said his party would also deploy one special KRI to distribute fuel aid to every flood disaster point.

"Maybe one more KRI will be added, namely the KRI Bontang tanker to support fuel where many areas need fuel for diesel generators," he said.
