Former Unram Employee Pregnant With Student Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison

The Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara sentenced Semah to 12 years in prison, a former Mataram University employee for being proven to impregnate a student to give birth to a child.

Mataram District Court Spokesman Lalu Moh. Sandi Iramaya confirmed the criminal decision as stated on the Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) page of the Mataram District Court.

"Yes, that's right. The verdict is 12 years in prison as shown in SIPP data," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 5.

In the verdict of case number: 540/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Mtr dated December 4, 2025, the panel of judges chaired by Mukhlassuddin stated that the defendant Semah's actions had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating the first alternative indictment of the public prosecutor.

The indictment relates to Article 6 letter b of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).

In addition to determining the sentence, the panel of judges also charged the defendant with a fine of Rp. 60 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison for a fine.

This decision is higher than the demands of the prosecutor who previously asked the panel of judges to sentence him to 10 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 60 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison to replace the fine.

However, the panel of judges has the same opinion as the public prosecutor regarding the proof of the criminal act of the defendant Semah.

In this case, the public prosecutor strengthened the defendant's criminal act by including evidence of the Maternal and Child Health book (KIA) from the victim's child who was born from the results related to the defendant.
