JAKARTA - Ukraine's main negotiator is scheduled to meet with US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Florida on Thursday, two days after an important meeting between Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow according to a senior US government official.
President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is also expected to attend the meeting with Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, according to a senior US government official quoted by ABC News, Thursday, December 4.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Wednesday preparations were underway for further discussions, but did not reveal when the negotiations were expected to take place.
"We are preparing a meeting in the United States -- after the American team returns from Moscow and after related consultations in Washington -- Rustem Umerov, Andrii Hnatov, and members of another negotiating team, will continue discussions with President Trump's envoy," Zelenskyy said on social media.
Few details were released regarding what was discussed during the five-hour meeting between Witfkoff, Kushner, and Putin, but post-match comments made by Washington and Moscow were mostly positive.
Both sides admit that there is still a lot of work to be done so that the deal can be accepted by Kyiv and Moscow.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 138 unmanned aircraft and two missiles into the country overnight, in which 114 unmanned aircraft were shot down or quelled. Two missiles and 24 unmanned aircraft hit targets in 14 locations, the air force said.
Russia's Defense Ministry said its troops shot down at least 76 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft overnight, one of which was destroyed in Moscow.
