PIDIE JAYA Hasanuddin University Medical Team (Unhas) succeeded in carrying out three caesarean operations on pregnant women who were victims of floods and landslides at Pidie Jaya Hospital, Aceh, Wednesday, December 3 night.
All measures took place in an emergency situation with the situation of the hospital being affected by the disaster.
A member of the Unhas Medical Team, Dr Bahrul Fikri Sp.A(K) PhD, explained that the handling took place dramatically, especially because some local medical personnel were exhausted and were directly affected by the flood.
One of the patients came with an early rupture for more than 24 hours, requiring quick action to save the mother and baby.
First, we handled the mother because of Pre-Eclampsia Berat (PEB), obesity, and grief. The second mother needed surgery because of her previous SC history and the position of the fetus was the latitude. While the third mother also experienced PEB," said Bahrul.
All the babies born in the operation were in a safe condition with the Apgar Score 7/9. Two babies were male, while the other one was a girl.
"One baby is still in the process of further examination when taken to the treatment room," said Bahrul.
He revealed that a number of obstetricians and pediatricians at the Pidie Jaya Hospital were also exhausted due to being affected by the flood, so the Unhas Medical Team took over part of the emergency services of obstetrics and pediatrics.
"We ask them to rest, because they were also affected by the disaster. For the time being, we will help with a number of obsgin patients and their children," he said.
