Riding A Trail Motorbike, Gibran Follows The Lumpur To Meet Victims Of The Bandang Agam Flood

JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka rode a trail motorbike to visit locations affected by flash floods and landslides in Agam Regency, West Sumatra, Thursday, December 4.

Quoted by Antara, Agam Regency is the first location that Gibran has visited in a series of working visits to three provinces affected by the Sumatran disaster, namely Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

After landing at Minangkabau Airport, West Sumatra, Gibran immediately boarded a helicopter to Agam Regency to distribute logistical assistance to victims who were at the evacuation post.

After landing from the helicopter, Gibran continued his journey by using a trail motorbike to the evacuation post established by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Carrying a notebook on his left arm, Gibran looked at the ranks of the houses of residents who had been swept away by flash floods on his right and left.

Based on the video received, the road to the evacuation post appears to be still covered in wet mud. The width of the road is very narrow, so four-wheeled vehicles cannot be passed, and can only be reached by motorbike.

Motorcycle vehicles in a series of visits by Vice President Gibran to Agam Regency also aim not to interfere with the activities of SAR officers who are evacuating, as well as the search for missing victims.

During his working visit, the Vice President wanted to see firsthand the condition of the community and coordinate with local governments, as well as officers in the field to inventory obstacles in disaster management.

This visit is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's direction so that mitigation, emergency handling, and infrastructure recovery steps can be carried out quickly, coordinated, and on target through the joint work of all parties.

From West Sumatra, the Vice President then flew to South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The trip was then continued to Aceh Singkil Regency, Aceh.

Also accompanying the Vice President on this working visit, including Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Andre Rosiade, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto and Deputy Head of the BUMN Regulatory Agency Aminuddin Ma'ruf.
