President Prabowo Subianto Instructs Full Mobilization Of Government Elements Handling Disasters In Sumatra

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered the acceleration of handling the emergency response since the first day of a natural disaster in three provinces, namely Nangro Aceh Darussalam (NAD), North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno said that the government ensures that all elements move quickly to ensure the safety of residents from disasters triggered by extreme weather phenomena that have a wide impact in a number of areas.

"So since the first day of the disaster, the President has ordered us that the BNPB Team immediately move to be assisted by the TNI-Polri, active local governments, and for emergency response, evacuation tents and food for all daily necessities have been sent," said Coordinating Minister Pratikno in a statement to the media crew at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Friday morning, November 28, 2025.

According to Coordinating Minister Pratikno, the delivery of urgent assistance was again carried out at the direct direction of President Prabowo. The government emphasizes the importance of priority equipment to support the efficiency of emergency response operations.

"So what was sent today on the orders of the President was a very urgent need, for example, was conveyed by Mr. Seskab, communication tools, rubber boats, then an electric generator, which is also very necessary to make this emergency response work more efficient. The Public Works Team (Public Works) is also moving, because some locations of the points have been cut off, ranging from landslides, then buried roads, and others, they have also moved," said Coordinating Minister Pratikno.

According to Coordinating Minister Pratikno, the phenomenon of extreme weather that occurred was triggered by a compound tropical cyclone that had a wide impact in a number of areas. The government has activated weather modification operations to reduce the potential for rain on land.

"We need to know, this is a compound tropical cyclone that is indeed very powerful, but according to the BMKG it has begun to decline, therefore we are also carrying out weather modification operations. It has begun to be flown to reduce rainfall on land, so that later we will bring rainfall to the ocean. This is also done with these kinds of efforts," added Coordinating Minister Pratikno.

On this occasion, Coordinating Minister Pratikno also said that the government was aware of the potential for a tropical coto cyclone in the north, although it was hoped that it would not enter Indonesian territory. All elements are asked to strengthen vigilance and maintain preparedness.

"And then we also anticipate because there is a koto cyclone, but the place is in the north. We are still vigilant, we hope that he will not enter mainland Indonesia. So once again, we need support from all parties, all colleagues," concluded Coordinating Minister Pratikno.
