JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono said there have now been 54 cases of COVID-19 mutation in Indonesia, ranging from B1187, B1617, and B1351.
"In total, we have obtained 54 cases of variants of concern. This is a mutation originating from India, South Africa, and the United Kingdom," Dante said in a Presidential Secretariat Youtube impression, Monday, May 24.
Of the 54 new cases of COVID-19 found, 35 were cases of migrants from outside Indonesia. Then, there are 19 cases of transmission in Indonesia.
"So there has been internal contact, there has been an internal spread of the variant of concern," Dante said.
Most recently, the government also noticed there were cases of ship clusters in Cilacap. There were 14 crew members (ABK) recorded positive B1617 virus from India. Some abk have been declared cured.
Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KCP-PEN) Airlangga Hartato said there was a follow-up of the case of ship clusters with a new type of variant.
"The president's directive that ships and ports be prioritized to be vaccinated and specifically for ships that have been or come from India to be isolated on the ship for 14 days," said Airlangga.
"So, it means we are isolated directly on the ship for goods or cargo that have entered India," he added
