JAKARTA - Japan calls for G20 member countries to remain united after US President Donald Trump said South Africa (South Africa) would not be invited to the G20 Summit in Florida next year.
Trump's comments on social media came after G20 leaders issued a declaration at the Johannesburg Summit last week without the United States, boycotting the event as South Africa was deemed to have violated human rights against white citizens.
"As the Prime Minister (Sanae) Takaichi emphasized at the G20 Summit last week, it is important for all G20 members to share their responsibilities and promote collaboration and concrete cooperation to resolve the problem," Japanese Cabinet SecretaryMinoru Kihara said at a press conference on Thursday, November 27 reported by ANTARA from Kyodo.
He said G20 members should "look for common ground," not division and conflict.
"We will continue to work closely with relevant countries, led by the host next year, United States," Kihara said.
On Saturday last week, the G20 pledged to tackle unilateral trade actions that were not in accordance with World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations messages that appear to be addressed to Trump at the import rate imposed by his government.
