Invite EU Delegations To Istiqlal To Klteng Gondomanan, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: Indonesia Is Still A Role Model For Tolerance

"Indonesia is still the world's role model in practicing tolerance for inter-religious and inter-cultural life," said Director of Public Diplomacy of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ani Nigeriawati.

Speaking at the opening of a series of dialogue activities "Indonesia-EU Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue", Director Ani said Indonesia was still a pilot in the practice of tolerance in everyday life.

"Indonesia is still a role model seen in practicing living in harmony and tolerance," he explained on the sidelines of the opening of the dialogue which was held at the Hall of the Diplomacy Canteen of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday (27/11).

Interfaith and intercultural dialogue between the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union last held in 2012 ago. However, Ani ensured that there is one thing that is still relevant today.

"13 years ago, there are many differences, but there are relevant things, namely regarding the position of Indonesia as a role model in inter-religious and inter-cultural life," explained Ani.

Furthermore, Ani said, apart from a series of dialogues, the EU delegation on this occasion would be taken to a number of locations in Jakarta and Yogyakarta featuring the diversity of Indonesian interfaith and cultural harmony.

Ani added that Indonesia welcomes the activation of "Indonesia-EU Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue" which reflects the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and the value shared with Indonesia and the European Union (EU).

In Jakarta, delegates will, among other things, visit the Istiqlal Mosque and Cathedral, as well as the Gathering Tunnel that connects it.

Meanwhile in Yogyakarta, delegates will be brought to visit Prambanan Temple, Borobudur Temple, Gondomanan Temple, Yogyakarta Palace, Yogyakarta Grand Mosque to Beringharjo Market.

"This mutual understanding must be maintained. Because that is the basis for us to continue to promote peace in the world," said Ani.
