JAKARTA - Head of the Information Center of the TNI Headquarters Major General TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah said his party had pocketed several names of three-star officers who would become Commander of the Peace Maintenance Forces in Gaza.
"The TNI has prepared several candidate names, but the official determination of the Commander of the Peace Maintenance Forces is still waiting for the government and the United Nations' decision," Freddy told ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.
Freddy did not explain where the high-ranking officers who became candidates for the leader of the TNI peacekeeping force in Gaza came from.
"What is clear is that the commander will come from a high-ranking three-star officer who has adequate experience in joint operations and multilateral operations," explained Freddy.
Previously, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said the peace force to be sent to Gaza, Palestine was led by three-star TNI officials.
"The Peace Maintenance Forces contingent is in the selection stage. Then the plan will be led by a three-star general," Agus said after undergoing a hearing (RDP) with Commission I at the DPR building, Central Jakarta, Monday (24/11).
He himself did not explain the special reasons for appointing three-star officials to lead peacekeepers to Gaza.
Agus continued, the troops led by this three-star official will oversee three composite brigades.
Each of the composite brigades consists of three main battalions, namely the health battalion, the Construction Engineer Battalion and the Assistance Battalion.
