Invite Media For Criticism, Chairman Of DKPP: Healthy Vitamins

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Honorary Council of Election Organizers or DKPP Heddy Lugito said that criticism and suggestions from the mass media, both print and electronic, are healthy vitamins.

"Media masse tidak perlu ragu, kalau mau kritik DKPP ajalah kritik saja. Bagi saya kritik itu obat, vitamin yang menyakit. Tanpa kritik, DKPP nanti tidak akan semakin sehat," kata Heddy di Serang, Banten, Jumat, disitat Antara.

On that occasion, Heddy expressed his highest appreciation to the mass media who continue to oversee and report the enforcement of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) to people in the country.

Heddy assessed that the interaction and cooperation between the DKPP and the mass media had been well established.

However, Heddy invited the mass media not to stop expressing criticism and suggestions in order to disseminate information and strengthen DKPP institutions.

Lebih dari itu, media massa memiliki peran yang lebih besar yaitu sebagai penyelangan bagi masyarakat di tengah serangan hoaks melalui media sosial.

Heddy emphasized that hoaxes or fake news are poison that kills reason and worries of reason.

"In an era like this, the truth alone is not enough because there must be the next truth so it is difficult for us to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. So the role of the mass media is only to spread information, but also as a luminosity," he said.

DKPP Secretary Syarmadani hopes that the mass media can also become an independent watchdog for DKPP in maintaining the integrity, professionalism and transparency of election organizers in the country.

"It is hoped that mass media colleagues will get to know DKPP more in maintaining the integrity, independence, and credibility of election organizers through the enforcement of KEPP," said Syarmadani.
