JAKARTA - PLN UID Jakarta Raya accelerated the reduction of waste and carbon emissions in the capital city through the expansion of the Waste program into Clean Energy with the Clean Ciliwung Movement (GCB). Both parties re-signed the MoU to strengthen the implementation of Waste Process Technology in Its Source (TOSS), Thursday, November 20.
The program, which has been running since 2022, has processed 25.2 tons of biomass waste to 12.6 tons of BBJP, an environmentally friendly fuel that is now being utilized by PLN. The use of BBJP has succeeded in reducing 9,723 kilograms of CO2, making it one of the most consistent community-based emission reduction programs in Jakarta.
The General Chairperson of GCB, Peni Susanti, called PLN a partner who continues to support the cleanliness of the Ciliwung River. Through TOSS, organic waste is not only reduced, but turns into useful renewable energy.
"This is proof that environmental concern can go hand in hand with energy innovation," said Peni in his statement received Friday, November 21.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adhaminordin, emphasized that this latest MoU is a momentum for TOSS expansion. "Since 2022, the impact is clear. The emissions have fallen by thousands of kilograms and the public is increasingly understanding how to manage waste. We want to expand TOSS facilities while encouraging residents to process waste independently," said Andy.
The collaboration between PLN UID Jakarta Raya and GCB shows that cross-sectoral collaboration can present clean energy solutions while strengthening the circular economy. This program also contributes to the Net Zero Emission 2060 target and green development in Jakarta.
