Tens Of Billions Of Money Lined Up By Police, Apparently Counterfeit Money Owned By Indramayu Gang

INDRAMAYU - Indramayu Police Team, West Java, arrested four suspected counterfeit money dealers with evidence seized worth Rp11.5 billion.

"Four people were arrested because it was proven to make and distribute counterfeit money," said Indramayu Police Chief Grand Commissioner Adjutant Hafidh S. Herlambang in Indramayu, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, May 23.

Hafidh said the four suspects each have the initials CAR (52), SAM (42), GUF (45) are residents of Indramayu, and IM (46) is from Jember, East Java.

The four suspects have their respective roles, such as CAR and SAM, both dealers, while GUF and IM are counterfeit money makers.

"What makes two people is GUF and IM, while the dealers are CAR and SAM," he said.

The unraveling of the case of the circulation of counterfeit money continued Hafidh, starting from the suspicion of members of the Indramayu Police Who were on patrol, where it was found that two people were conducting transaction activities.

Then after being approached by members, Hafidh said, one escaped and another was secured.

"The suspect who managed to be secured first was CAR, who will make the transaction and from the information in question, we arrested three other suspects," Hafidh said.

Hafidh said from the hands of the suspects, it confiscated several pieces of evidence, including counterfeit rupiah money of Rp100 thousand with a total value of Rp11.5 billion, then cash Rp1.1 million from the sale of counterfeit money, 55 pieces of counterfeit money prints that have not been cut.

Also confiscated were two white sacks containing 49 uncut Canadian bills, 29 bundles of U.S. dollars, one bundle of Singapore dollar bills.

"We also confiscated one four-wheeled vehicle, one motorcycle unit, one money counter engine unit, and three mobile phone units," he said.

As a result of his actions, the four suspects will be subjected to Article 244 of the Criminal Code jo Article 36 and 37 of Law No. 7 of 2011 on Currency with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of life and a fine of Rp100 billion.
