Prabowo Targets 30 New Medical Facultys To Meet Doctors In The Regions

JAKARTA The government is targeting the addition of 30 new medical faculties to meet the increasing needs of national medical personnel.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the need for medical personnel is as important as the construction of hospitals. Indonesia, he said, needs more doctors, dentists, nurses, and paramedics to strengthen health services.

"Hospitals are important, but also the crew. Our doctors need a lot more. Dental doctors, nurses, paramedics, and that we will expand the addition of educational facilities on a large scale. The Minister of Health suggested to me, we need to add 30 new medical faculties," Prabowo said in his speech when inaugurating the Kardiology Hospital. Indonesian Emirates, Antara, Wednesday, November 19.

The addition of the medical faculty is a step for the government to accelerate the fulfillment of human resources in the health sector.

In addition to opening a new faculty, Prabowo also asked the existing medical faculty to increase the student quota.

He said the government was preparing policies so that access to health education would be more open to the entire community, including through full scholarship policies.

"Especially for doctors, I try most of them, if possible, God willing, it will be a full scholarship. So the government will add scholarships for medicine, nurses, and paramedics," said Prabowo.

According to him, this step is part of the government's long-term strategy to strengthen national health services while ensuring equal distribution of medical personnel to the regions.

Selain menambah fakultas kedokteran, Prabowo juga menginstruksikan Menteri Kesehatan Budi Gunadi Sadikin untuk membangun 66 rumah sakit berstandar internasional seperti RS Kardiologi Emirates Indonesia di Surakarta, Jawa Tengah.
