Drones To K-9 Deployed, Cilacap Landslide Operation On The Seventh Day Enters Critical Points

CILACAP - Operation to search for landslide victims in Cibeunying Village, Cilacap Regency, entered its seventh day on Wednesday, November 19.

The joint search and rescue (SAR) team optimizes search efforts with a focus on the three sectors that have been set, namely Worksite A-1, B-1, and B-2.

Head of the Cilacap SAR Office Muhammad Abdullah said all personnel had started moving to the location since 06.00 WIB to search for the five victims who were still missing.

"At Worksite A-1 one victim, Worksite B-1 three victims, and Worksite B-2 one victim is still being sought," he said in Cilacap, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 19.

On the sixth day of the search operation, the SAR team managed to evacuate two victims who died, Arumi Purnamasari and Lili Safitri, along with two motorbikes at Worksite B-2. The findings made the team divide the sector into B-2A and B-2B sub-sectors to narrow the search area.

The team also focused attention on Worksite B-1, about 10 meters from the starting point of the victim's house, with excavations of 1015 meters long and 10 meters wide. The focus was determined after the findings of one victim died and human body parts on the third day of the search.

To support operations on the seventh day, the SAR team deployed 21 excavators, nine sniffer dogs (K-9), water pump machines (alcones), and air monitoring using drones. Abdullah, who also acts as SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC), said the evaluation would be carried out in the afternoon to determine the next step.

If until the afternoon the total number of victims has not been found, the decision to extend the operation will be determined after evaluation. Please pray, hopefully this seventh day of search will produce results," he said.

Landslides occurred last Thursday at around 19.00 WIB, stockpiling houses in Tarukahan Hamlet and Cibuyut Hamlet.

The disaster damaged 12 houses and threatened 16 other houses in an area of about 6.5 hectares, with landslide material stockpiling settlements and causing a two-meter-deep land subsidence and 25-meter-long cracks.
