GOWA - Investigator of the Sungguminasa District Attorney's Office, Gowa South Sulawesi, has named and detained the suspect, Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Pallangga, with the initials HS for the alleged corruption case of misuse of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds from 2018-2023 worth more than Rp1.37 billion.

"This begins with the disbursement of the budget every year. Starting from 2018 to 2023. He disbursed BOS funds and their use there were several items that did not match their designation," said Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Gowa Kejari, Faisah, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 19.

The mode used by the suspect, said Faisah, is by making fictitious accountability such as purchasing ATK (paper writing equipment), procuring daily exams and purchasing computers including shopping for food and drink from catering with all fictitious notes.

"After we cross-checked it, both ATK stores, computer stores, and procurement stores for food and drink such as water and electricity stores, building materials stores have some fictitious ones. All of them have fictitious value of more than Rp932.4 million," he said.

Furthermore, the doubling of the question is that the doubling of daily repeat questions is also fictitious with a value of Rp. 451 million, then Rp. 102 million and Rp. 125 million. The suspect deliberately uses his own company to get personal gain.

According to him, this alleged corruption practice takes place every year from 2018-2023. The issue is considered to have enriched himself into using his shop as well as part of a conflict of interest. Because, using BOS funds for its own company, it cannot show real use of funds.

"So the total state loss in total is more than Rp1.37 billion, that's a total from 2018 to 2023. We have named him a suspect, because in this use process, he himself manages it," said Faisah.

When asked how much state losses per year, he said, it could not be determined because of its accumulation nature, only the overall BOS funds disbursed for seven years were around Rp. 7 billion, with an absorption of the 2018-2023 budget, and funds deviating more than Rp. 1.37 billion.

This case was revealed after the non-governmental organization Elpace filed a complaint, reported it in 2024, so an initial investigation and deepening was carried out by tracing ATK's shops. Later, the shop meant that the school had never shopped after COVID-19.

In addition, investigators have examined 58 witnesses such as teachers, service providers, third parties to the Gowa Education Office to ensure this case is in accordance with the facts reported.

Currently, the suspect HS is still active as an ASN. Now he is being held at the Class I A Makassar State Detention Center (Rutan) for the next 20 days to facilitate the examination.

HS is suspected of Article 3 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption, Juncto Article 65 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 18 paragraph (1) of Law number 20 of 2001 with a penalty of 20 years in prison.
