Workers Demand A 2026 Jakarta UMP Increase Of IDR 6 Million, DKI Provincial Government Still Waiting For The Ministry Of Manpower's Direction

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has responded to the demands of the labor group asking that the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2026 be increased to IDR 6 million in demonstrations at the DKI Jakarta City Hall today.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency, Syaripudin, emphasized that the local government is still waiting for official guidelines from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) before starting discussions on the increase rate.

Syaripudin said that the process of determining the UMP cannot run without a reference set by the central government. Until now, the Ministry of Manpower has not issued the latest rules as the basis for calculating wages.

"Indeed, during the period of determining the UMP at the end of the year which will be used as a guideline for payment of the UMP in the coming year, of course all provincial governments in Indonesia are waiting for the instructions from the central government, in this case the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, which until the 17th has not been issued," said Syaripudin at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, November 17.

The guidelines will later become a reference for the DKI Jakarta Wage Council in drafting recommendations that will be submitted to DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to be stipulated in the governor's decision regarding the UMP.

After the guidelines are issued, the Wage Council will discuss the calculation formula, including the provincial sectoral minimum wage (UMSP). In the forum there are representatives of trade unions, employers through Apindo and Kadin, elements of academics, and local governments.

"The discussion on the formula and determination of the UMP will be carried out which will be submitted to the Governor, including UMSP for the coming year," said Syaripudin.

Responding to the demonstration held by workers today, Syaripudin ensured that the DKI Provincial Government appreciates the delivery of aspirations. He assessed the pressure to increase the UMP part of the annual dynamics ahead of the wage determination period.

"We think this is certainly a natural thing, friends have hope for how their welfare will improve in the future and the government must also have duties that serve the community, improve the welfare of the people, assess this as a dynamic, convey aspirations that God willing, will be positive and can be constructive things for the welfare of the people of Jakarta," he explained.

A number of workers who are members of the Federation of Workers Union Federations throughout Jakarta held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall. They demand an increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) with high value next year.

Chairman of DPD FSP LEM DKI Jakarta Yusuf Suprapto demanded that DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung set the DKI Jakarta UMP in 2025 of IDR 6 million.

"We are DKI Jakarta workers, DKI Jakarta workers, who will demand a UMP of 6 million rupiah. That the 6 million figure is a decent figure and a figure that can meet the needs of a decent living for workers in DKI Jakarta," explained Yusuf.

In comparison, the DKI Jakarta UMP this year is in the range of Rp5.39 million. If the demand for workers is granted to Rp6 million, there will be an increase of around Rp600 thousand, or approximately 10 percent of the current minimum wage.

In addition, workers also demand a determination of the provincial sectoral minimum wage (UMSP) with a minimum value of 5 percent above the UMP which has been increased in 2026.

"Don't let it touch what is called the existing sectoral wage last year and then want to be eliminated. We ask that it be returned, as in the previous existing ministerial regulations, 5 percent above the provincial minimum wage in DKI Jakarta," he concluded.
