AMBON Marine Combat Group (Guspurla) Koarmada III secured KM Bangka Jaya 9 which was caught transporting around 40 tons of diesel without official documents in the waters north of Buru Island, Maluku.

"This action was carried out as part of a marine security operation held by KRI Panapan-626," said Danguspurla Koarmada III, Admiral TNI Andri Kristianto, at a press conference at the Nalatrol Koarmada IX Office, Antara, Sunday, October 16.

He explained that the arrests were made after the KRI Panapan-626 stopped the ship at 03 deg 06.

The initial examination found four fish holders which turned out to contain diesel around 40 tons without official documents. The cargo is categorized as fuel abuse in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas Earth.

"The diesel storage mode in this fish hold is a form of abuse and is not in accordance with its designation," said Laksma Andri.

In addition to fuel violations, officers also found discrepancies in the documents of the crew. Of the 18 crew members, 16 people did not have books from sailors, thus violating Article 145 of Law Number 17 of 2008 concerning Shipping.

Ship core personnel such as the Head of the Engine Room (KKM), the convert, and the driver are also considered not to comply with the provisions of the safe manning as stipulated in Article 135 of the same law.

Based on these findings, KRI Panasan-626 secured KM Bangka Jaya 9 and escorted it to Irian Satrol Pier Koarmada IX for further investigation by the competent authorities.

Koarmada III emphasized that this action was the commitment of the Indonesian Navy in enforcing the law at sea, maintaining shipping security, and ensuring order in Eastern Indonesia's territorial waters.

"Koarmada III is committed to enforcing the law and ensuring that the East Indonesia sea remains safe," said Laksma Andri Kristianto.
